Insurance for recreational vehicles can neither be done with an automobile insurance nor with a home insurance. To avoid complication in settling claims RV owners must look for specialized brokers/ agencies that have their own certified RV appraiser and adjuster to insure their RV, in order to ensure a smooth customer service and settlement of claims. There are different types of policies available for Motorhomes, Towables and full time Rv’s.

* While selecting a company for RV insurance it should be checked how fast and reliable it is in claim service.

* As there are personal properties in RV, it should be ascertained to what extent personal property inside RV are covered in an event of theft, fire or other disaster.

* Sometimes there are various surcharges and clauses attached to a policy. As for example, it is better to checkout if there is any surcharge for first accident and if so how much.

* While it should be verified if Roadside Assistance is available in case of a breakdown or problem, it should also be checked if the cost of tow is covered or not.

* It is better to go through the policy details to find out if the valuation and repair will be easy in the event of a breakdown.

* It is better to make sure whether trailers, tow dollies and permanently attached accessories like awnings and cabanas are covered in the policy.

Last but not the least, different ways the premium of the policy can be paid should be checked out. Find out whether full payment should be made at once or there is provision for paying the premium in installments. So for insuring an RV the owner must look for plans and schemes that offer comprehensive protection at competitive price and ensure that they meet all the insurance requirements.
