ATVs or quad bikes are ideal for traveling in all kinds of terrain. However, in doing so, mud and other debris from the ground tend to accumulate in the body of the vehicle. And in order to keep the quad in working condition it is essential to keep off the dirt from its body. The accumulation of rocks, branches, mud or other kinds of debris would not only mess up the quad but might also result in premature damage of certain parts. Therefore, it is essential to keep the quad clean.
It is always best to clean up the mess when it’s fresh. Dried up mud can often prove difficult to remove, and therefore, riders must immediately clean their bikes after use. Some simple and easy ways for cleaning can be followed for getting off the debris. A pressure washer or a garden hose can be used for cleaning the quad. It must be placed in a lighted area where the accumulated mud is visible so that the hose can force water into the inaccessible areas and remove the dirt.
Gas, electric or other powered pressure washers are ideal for cleaning up the quad. The sizes and capabilities vary and they have to be used accordingly. To start off the washing procedure, the foot wells can be cleaned first. With the jet positioned in a vertical position you can start cleaning the rear, from the middle. This would clean the underside of the fenders and would prevent dirt from splattering on to other parts of the vehicle.
The next step consists of cleaning the rear tires with a horizontal jet moving up and down. Similarly, the top, shocks, brakes, A-arms and wheels must be cleaned. During the cleaning process you must keep in mind that the water jet must be moved from one side to the other, or it might leave behind trails of mud and other debris. The suspension components, interiors of the tires as well as the brakes must be cleaned thoroughly. Even the places where the lights and radiators are placed should be washed properly for removing any remaining trace of mud or dirt.
Finally, the entire vehicle must be checked one last time and cleaned thoroughly from rear to front. You can ensure clean exteriors as well as interiors once you complete this thorough cleaning procedure.
If you still want to make your quad look better, just wipe it off with a dry cloth. This would prevent the formation of stains on the vehicle’s body.
